CIUDAD MCY.- Al son de los tambores y cantos de sirenas, los ocumareños celebraron a San Juan Bautista, una de sus más grandes y hermosas festividades, la cual, después de dos años de pandemia, logró volver a llenar su pequeño pueblo de fe y alegría.

Los días 22, 23 y 24 de junio se convirtieron en fechas de fe, amor, felicidad, cantos y bailes dedicados a quien fue declarado Copatrón de Ocumare de la Costa. Los devotos manifestaron sus agradecimientos a San Juan Bautista acompañándolo en su procesión, cantándole y bailándolo, dándole continuidad a esta arraigada tradición.

San Juan Bautista, primo hermano de Jesucristo, llevo una vida de austeridad, entrega, discernimiento y fidelidad a la palabra de Dios; era el que se encargaba de predicar la conversión de los corazones y que enderezaran el camino para que pudiesen recibir al señor, siendo esta la razón por la cual para los cristianos y ocumareños este santo tiene grandes virtudes, ganándose el cariño de todos los devotos.

Ante esto, fueron muchos los testimonios que denotaban sensibilidad, amor y devoción a este santo, tal es el caso de Yoleida Cuba, quien es la encargada de la cofradía de La Boca, un lugar muy conocido en Ocumare donde se realizan los encuentros de los sanjuanes.

“Mi mamá era la capitana y como enfermó yo continúe con este legado, estoy muy orgullosa de cada responsabilidad que tengo porque lo visto y le arreglo su trono junto a mis colaboradoras”. Asimismo, Yoleida también destacó que realiza este homenaje desde el año de 1973.

De igual manera, devotos de otros lugares del estado acudieron a este pueblo maravilloso a festejar acompañando a su San Juan Bautista, siendo uno de ellos oriundo del municipio Carrizales del estado Miranda.

“Tenemos dos años consecutivos trayendo nuestro San Juan de la Montaña, que viene del eje alto mirandino, vino del frío para compartir en las costas de Ocumare”, comentó Erick González.

Según los mismos ocumareños, desde meses antes se ayudan entre todos para reunir el capital suficiente para festejar a San Juan Bautista. “Cada quien va dando un aporte para comprar los tambores, para comprar los cueros, las flores, las bebidas y de poquito a poquito vamos reuniendo”, expresó María Pérez.
Aunque de lejos se puede ver que la tradición puede ser un poco mundana por los tambores y los cantos, la verdad es que está muy lejos de serlo, ya que él es venerado por lo que representa en la vida de Cristo, por ser un precursor y el que prepara el camino del Señor.

“Su vida de austeridad, de pobreza, de entrega, de obediencia y de fidelidad a la palabra de Dios es lo que tiene que movernos a nosotros como católicos a tratar de imitar a San Juan Bautista a ese modo de vivir y de obrar que de seguro le ha hecho ganarse el cielo, el cariño y la popularidad de la gente”, expresó el canciller de la Diócesis de Maracay, Jim Alexander Gil.

COPATRÓN DE OCUMARE
San Juan Bautista fue proclamado Copatrón de Ocumare de la Costa ya que es una fiesta arraigada del ocumarense y el obispo ha decidido declararlo oficialmente, por solicitud del párroco de la comunidad, Santiago Araujo, a través de una carta espléndida firmada por todos los moradores del lugar, Copatrón y darle así mayor realce a la festividad.

Ante estas festividades los emprendedores no desaprovecharon la oportunidad de brindarles a los turistas actividades diferentes a la de la festividad, siendo uno de los lugares más conocido y visitado por todos La Ciénaga.
Waikiki Tours se encargó de mostrarle como parte de su emprendimiento a los turistas los más hermosos lugares de La Ciénaga en un tour, recorrido a través del cual se narran sus maravillosas historias y sirve para contribuir a que el turismo crezca en las costas de Ocumare.
Asimismo, los amigos de Oceanía brindaron sus servicios de snorkeling y buceo, dándoles a los turistas la oportunidad de vivir una oportunidad única e inigualable conociendo una muy pequeña parte de ese mundo que existe bajos las aguas del mar.
La gente de Oceanía creó también una cancha de voleibol de playa y bolas criollas en sus espacios para brindar el mayor entretenimiento posible a todos aquellos quienes visiten el lugar.
Definitivamente, Ocumare de la Costa es un pueblo no solo lleno de historia, sino de cultura, tradición y creencias.
